The most stressful part of online shopping is picking the right size. This universal truth doesn't just apply to babies. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered multiple sizes of the same item, just to make sure I got the right size. I started doing this because if I had to exchange an item, a lot of times the item would already be sold out, and I admit...I have FOMO.

When I decided to start Chicky's Closet, I basically created my business model off what I myself perceive as the perfect shopping experience. I feel like I'm in the era of intentional purchasing, so I'm very mindful when I hand-pick looks for our children's clothing store each season. I want clothes that look good on my daughter now without looking baggy but will also fit her in a few months down the road. Aside from a few exceptions, the majority of the outfits we offer are in fabrics that give a generous amount of stretch. Pants have elastic waistbands, necklines aren't stiff, and dress styles provide lots of room to move and grow. For example, Chicky still wears knitted outfits that are in size 6M and she's just about to turn 8 months old.

I have been told that European sizes run smaller than American labels. I personally have found that to be partially true, but to help make it easier, I've included our sizing guides. These Size Guides can also be found in the drop-down menu on our homepage. My advice is to select the size that fits your infant's age and height. For infants and toddlers, our knitted outfits give a generous amount of stretch. If you are shopping for an outfit that you want to fit perfectly then measure the chest circumference. You'll want to go with whatever size corresponds with that measurement. For example, according to age and height measurements, Chicky should be wearing size 9M clothing. Except, her chest measurements are closer to 6M. When I put her in 9M clothes, she looks like Slim Shady.

For children aged 6-12yrs, you will want to take their waist measurement into account. Because I'm intentional with the styles we offer, it's a pretty safe bet that your Littles will be able to comfortably wear their outfits and look good while doing it for the entire season. Unless you got some Viking stock in your bloodline, then I think it's best to stick to the old school method of going up a size.

Just like for adults, there will occasionally be an outfit that doesn't fit like the size chart, and it will be noted as such within the description. If you're ever unsure about what size to get, just shoot us an email at hello@chickyscloset.com and we will happily measure the exact item you're interested in.
